It’s hard to manage your time right here, right now when you don’t know what you want to do or achieve 10, 40, or 500 days from now. That’s why you need to set goals. Both short and long-term goals will make it easy for you to realize your time. Short-term goals will help you stay on track every day, whereas your long-term goals will help you push yourself and work harder, keeping your eye on the prize.


Think of the famous acronym SMART: specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound.


  1. Learn to Say No:

Although it’s important to make time for friends and fun, it’s also important to say no every now and then. You don’t need to go out for drinks every single night of the week. Limit it to two times so that you can still get in your exercising, after-work studies, etc. It’s ok to say no.

Start to look at scenarios in the following three ways: important and urgent, important but not urgent, and urgent but not important. Obviously, important and urgent tasks should be prioritized over the other two. As for the other options, learn to start stacking your days starting with urgent, and ending with important. Delegating is a great way to bring someone else into the equation and shoulder off a few assignments that are overloading your schedule. If you’re a small business owner, don’t be afraid to get just one independent contractor. If you’re a student, find a study buddy. You don’t have to do it all alone.
